Chess Holiday Camp

International Master of Chess (IM) and former Australian Open Chess Champion George Xie offers 3 day Chess Holiday Camp in our centre.

There are 90 minutes tutorial and 90 minutes tournament each day.  

Tutorial (90 minutes)

For beginners

Suitable Level: Never played chess before

  • Lesson focus on basic pieces movement, checks, captures, piece values, queen and rock checkmate and basic opening principles.
  • Practice involves games between players mainly focus on trading pieces and basic checkmate pattern recognition.
  • chess study notes (handouts) are available after each chess lesson

For intermediate and advanced level

Suitable Level： Already know each chess piece’s movement and their value.

Lesson structure:

  • Basic chess opening study.
  • Basic chess ending study
  • Checkmate training.
  • Practice tournament amongst students.
  • chess study notes (handouts) are available after each chess lesson

Tournament (90 minutes)

Open Division: 

1st: Gold medal + 1 gold bar + 1 golden certificate + 1 real chess book. 

2nd: Silver medal + 1 souvenir gold coin + 1 golden certificate, 

3rd: Bronze medal + 1 regular gold coin + 1 golden certificate.

Age divisions: 

Under 12: 1st: 1 gold coin.  2nd 1 silver coin.

Under 10: 1st: 1 gold coin.  2nd: 1 silver coin.

Under 8:   1st: 1 gold coin.  2nd: 1 silver coin.

 

NOTE: The player can ONLY claim 1 prize from the tournament.
